GELBVIEH HETEROSIS: Hybrid Vigor the crossbreeding influence,
It’s all in the heterosis, or hybrid vigor, described as the increase in performance of the crossbred animal compared to the average of the straight-bred parents. Heterosis impacts traits with low heritability, e.g., reproduction. Hybrid vigor will add 30-80 pounds to each weaned calf without additional inputs. Producers with crossbred cows can see a higher percentage of their cowherd breed back on the first cycle due to maternal heterosis.

Our beef is born, raised, & finished here on the ranch in a low stress environment where the true qualities of the Gelbvieh breed come through. We DNA test most of our cattle to get detailed data on the breeding program and the tenderness values along with carcass qualities.
